Recent passing of beloved director, Dwane Krumme
Dwane Krumme, a long-time Sunriver resident, passed away Friday, April 5, 2024, after an extended stay at St Charles Hospital. Dwane was born October 20, 1942, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. His father, Marvin Riley Krumme, mother, Wynema Krumme, and sister Sheila preceded him in death.
Dwane married Donna Louise Miller on April 30, 1963, and would have been married for 61 years this month. They have lived in Sunriver since 1998. Their children are son Chris (Jenn) Krumme, grandson AJ (14), (Sunriver) daughter Kimberli Eicher, and granddaughter Shylie (8), (Sunriver).
Dwane graduated from Pepperdine College in 1965 with a BA in English literature. He then attended Claremont College, graduating in 1968 with a Masters’s in English literature. Dwane received his Doctorate degree in 1972 from Claremont College in English Literature.He worked at United California Bank in the credit card division in Van Nuys, California. He then moved to manage the Credit Card Division in Simi Valley, California, then moved to the Japan Credit Bank (JCB Inc.) and spent several years with this bank and integrated the two countries with the credit card business. He traveled extensively during his career with JCB.
Dwane is the author of a book “Banking and the Plastic Card” which can be found on Amazon. Donna moved full-time to Sunriver in 1998 and Dwane traveled between Los Angeles and Sunriver until becoming a full-time resident in 2004.
Dwane came out of retirement to volunteer at the Habitat Restore in La Pine, and became the Executive Director there. His commitment to the generational mission to put families in the homes of Habitat for Humanity of La Pine-Sunriver has brought the total number of homes currently to 45 with the build going on this summer. He was excited to see the 34-home project that will start in 2025 in the new Park View subdivision off Huntington Road in La Pine.
